M.C.Escher chair
Materials : Oak wood, steel, Spraypaint and clear lack.
Dimensions : Hight 70cm. Seat 43cm. Width 36cm.
As one out of four chairs inspired of four different artist, this one was the Dutch artist M.C. Escher. He is mainly known for his drawings of buildings and normal objects but if you think more about them you realize that they are illusions and impossible creations that hide in the construction.
With the inspiration from his universe I came up with the idea to make a simple chair with a surgent pattern that creates an illusion of a seat with holes - a trompe l'oeil effect. I draw the pattern on two massive wood blocks so the illusions works if you stand about 1.5 meters away from it with a white background.
